Jeanily (genie-lee) is a licensed therapist practicing in Maryland and Washington D.C. Originally from Boston with Puerto Rican roots, her cultural background and sense of community shape her therapeutic style.
As a compassionate listener, Jeanily is deeply passionate about working with communities of color and dismantling the stigmas surrounding mental illness. She strives to normalize the need for support across all genders, races, and socioeconomic classes.
Drawing on her love for brain science, yoga, and community-building, Jeanily adopts a trauma-informed approach infused with mindfulness. She guides her clients to explore the roots of their experiences, shift negative thinking patterns, and embrace a fuller, healthier lifestyle.
Certified in comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Jeanily possesses extensive knowledge of trauma's impact on brain health and its potential to disrupt our connection with our authentic selves. However, she firmly believes in the resilience of the human brain and the possibility of healing.
With several years of experience working with children, families, and adults in a variety of mental health settings, Jeanily takes a strengths-based approach to empower her clients. She encourages them to tap into their existing skills and resources to facilitate healing and support their overall well-being. Guided by the philosophy of Ubuntu which says, "I am because you are," Jeanily recognizes that healing does not occur in isolation but through communion with others.
