My name is Jeanily (pronounced genie-lee) and I am a licensed psychotherapist in Maryland (LMSW) and DC (LGSW). I am originally from Boston by way of Puerto Rico with culture and community being a big part of who I am and my therapeutic style.
I received my master’s degree from Simmons University School of Social Work in Boston, with a specialization in Trauma and Interpersonal Violence. I hold a certificate in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and The Relational and Multi-contextual Treatment of Trauma - which really just means I know A LOT about trauma, how it effects our brain health & how these difficult experiences can some times cause us to disconnect from our authentic selves. But of course, how resilient our brains are which tells us healing is possible!

I’m a compassionate listener who is deeply passionate about working with communities of color and helping to combat the stigmas associated with mental illness by normalizing the need for support- across all genders, race and class.
I’ve had several years of experience working with children, families and adults in a variety of mental health settings. I take a strengths-based approach to empower my clients to use the skills they already hold as the tools needed to heal and support their overall health and well-being.
Fusing my personal love of brain science, yoga and building community- I use a trauma-informed lens along with modalities such as CBT and mindfulness to help clients explore the root of their experiences, shift negative thinking and empower them to embrace a fuller/healthier lifestyle.
I believe strongly in showing up just as we are-wherever we are in our journey. I come from the philosophy of Ubuntu which says, “I am because you are” and believe that we do not heal in isolation but rather in communion with others. There is power in storytelling and it would be a great honor to hold space for you and your unique story.
